The Washington Area Concierge Association held their annual Holiday Party at McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks on Monday, December 3, 2018. This annual event is a chance for WACA members to celebrate the season while providing additional support to local charities. This year's event was attended by over 100 WACA Members who donated over $1,000 in gift cards to support Horton's Kids, a local charity that empowers children growing up in one of Washington, DC's most under-resourced communities so that they graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life. The members of WACA also donated winter gear to support an initiative of the American Experience Foundation (AEF). AEF was once again nominated and chosen by the membership to be the recipient of proceeds from our annual Charity Gala. This year WACA was thrilled to present the American Experience Foundation with a $2,000 donation on behalf of the WACA membership. The American Experience Foundation (AEF) enriches the lives of low-income students through inspirational travel experiences and educational opportunities to cultivate the next generation of hospitality industry professionals. AEF is the 501(c)(3) charity affiliated with Destination DC.
This year's holiday party was also a moment to thank the 2018 members of the Executive Committee who are stepping down. Marama Nengel of the Four Seasons Baltimore, Jonathan Knox of the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court, and Lynn Jason of the Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C. were thanked along with our Affiliate Representatives, Sean Wallace of Old Town Trolley and Brandon Pettit of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. All of these executive committee members played a vital role in the success of the Washington Area Concierge Association and we will be forever grateful for their time and support.
